OVERVIEW

As the Lead UX Researcher for Autodesk’s Media & Entertainment (M&E) division, I spearheaded research initiatives to shape the vision and MVP of the Flow Cloud platform. This platform, targeting an $8B Total Addressable Market (TAM), was designed to streamline workflows and foster collaboration across the film, gaming, and VFX industries.

ROLE

I Led a 3-member research team, collaborating closely with senior leadership to align the product’s vision with industry needs and business goals.

PROCESS

  • Collaborated with stakeholders to define the scope of the research and align on key objectives, ensuring the study addressed both user needs and business goals.

  • Utilized a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods, including ethnographic studies, user interviews, and journey mapping, to gather actionable insights.

  • Synthesized findings into comprehensive personas and workflows to inform platform design and strategy, driving cross-functional alignment.

LEARNING

  • Discovered critical pain points in existing workflows that hindered collaboration and efficiency across VFX teams.

  • Highlighted the importance of centralizing data to streamline communication and reduce operational redundancies.

  • Gained a deeper understanding of how nuanced user archetypes shape interactions with complex cloud-based platforms.

OUTCOMES

  • Influenced the Flow Cloud platform roadmap, enabling Autodesk to unify VFX workflows for enhanced team collaboration.

  • Delivered actionable insights that consolidated 25+ personas into 5 archetypes, simplifying user-centered decision-making.

  • Increased research efficiency by 25% and improved insight retrieval by 80% through centralized findings and reusable templates.
